RedKings  Review

RedKings is a skin on the OnGame network along with PokerRoom and Hollywood Poker . OnGame does not allow American players, but they have a significant European player base which provides a lot of traffic during the prime European playing hours. During off peak hours the action is focused a lot more at the micro to low stakes games, where there is still a good selection of tables to choose from. They offer 24/7 customer support via email and telephone and their business focus is very customer centric, making sure that each player is treated like a “King”. They offer a generous sign up bonus with reasonable clearing requirements, and there are multiple bonuses to choose from with different requirements so that you can pick the bonus that is best for you. They also offer regular reload bonuses so that you will always have an extra incentive to play there on top of the excellent customer support.

RedKings  Game Types:

RedKings offers Texas Hold’em, Omaha , 7 Card Stud , and 5 Card Draw . For Texas Hold’em you can choose from Fixed Limit, No Limit, or Pot Limit. For Omaha and 7 Card Stud you can choose from hi or hi/lo. The tables are either 10 handed, 5 handed, or heads up. Players are also able to create their own custom tables with any number of seats that they want. Action is fast and loose at the lower limits but as you climb higher you will find many regulars playing multiple tables. This is due largely to the generous bonus structure available at OnGame.

There are a number of multi-table tournaments that run throughout the day with a wide variety of buy-in sizes and game types. Primarily you will see smaller buy-ins at No Limit Hold’em tournaments but other varieties are available on a less regular basis. Sit & Go tournaments are available at any time with anywhere from a $1 to a $500 buy-in. During prime time they reach regularly up to the $100 level, but during off hours play is mostly at the $10 or lower limits.

RedKings  Software and Features:

RedKings uses the standard OnGame software which has both pluses and minuses. The lobby was recently improved and now has a robust filtering system that allows you to find exactly the game that you want with only a few clicks. Important cash game statistics such as average pot size and average % of players to the flop are easily visible, although sometimes the lobby data lags and is not up to date.

The tables themselves are good looking but not very customizable. You have the option to show/hide avatars and a few other items such as stack sizes and a timer, but that’s about it. Multi-tablers are likely to be annoyed with the inability to disable animation. There is a four color deck option, but it comes tied with the “Big Card Symbols” option that some users might find annoying. One nice feature that other rooms should offer is the ability to disable “Promotion Icons” such as the ones for their casino. While playing you must click the “Sit Out” button to change your auto-posting options or to reload. This is pretty silly and can easily result in you missing hands. There is also a “Leave” button which takes you off the table and is a dangerous mis-click just waiting to happen.

The note taking system on RedKings is well done. It allows you to take text notes as well as classify a player with a color. All of these are visible directly on the table which makes then very accessible and useful. Viewing hand histories on RedKings is a major pain. They are available immediately by clicking a link on the table, which is a nice feature, but they open in a new web page and are extremely difficult to read. This makes it near impossible to go back and find the mucked cards for an opponent if you are playing more than one table at a time.

There is a java client available so that you can play from any computer with an internet connection. This includes both Mac and Linux users! Unfortunately it is capped at 4 tables so if you like to mass multi-table you will want to stick to the downloadable client. Their downloadable client is available in 17 different languages so international users will feel right at home. At times the client can be very resource intensive so players with older computers might have difficulty playing more than one table at a time.

RedKings  Behind the Scenes at:

RedKings is a newer skin but they have made a big splash in the online poker community. Their focus on providing an excellent experience for every customer is readily apparent and you would have to look pretty hard to find someone with a complaint. RedKings has a generous bonus and VIP system that rewards its high volume players as well as the casual player. The regularly run additional promotions such as leagues or currently if you are dealt red pocket kings you qualify for a free $10 or $50 if you lose with them at showdown.
